It all started when…

The story of FUTURAMA BEAUTY ACADEMY started with a local family that has owned and operated the beauty school for over 30 years. Our story, our ties to our communities, and our care for students have driven this school to success for many years. FUTURAMA BEAUTY ACADEMY was established over 30 years ago here in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Ms Antonia Murillo opened the school in 1988. She had been in the beauty business since 1965 and her family continues to run the academy today.

Our school has been around a long time, but that doesn’t make us old. It means we’ve learned the right way to educate and train our students for a lifetime of success in the field of cosmetology. Our educators stay on the cutting edge of all the latest styles & trends.

FUTURAMA BEAUTY ACADEMY offers the Cosmetology, Manicuring, and Instructor courses. Our courses have been approved by the Illinois Department of Licensing and Regulation. FBA is approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

98% State Board Pass Rate.. HOW? It’s simple – and really hard! Our students pass the state exams because they are prepared. We train our students so they know the content, and we test our students internally to make sure they know the state requirements before heading in to that room to take their tests. That means our students take their tests with confidence, knowing they are ready to pass their exams and move on to their professional careers.

Mrs. Linda, our night class teacher has been with us since 2006 with over 40yrs. of experience. She’s been a salon owner, cosmetology school owner and still loves to learn new techniques to pass down to our students

Mr. Romero started with FUTURAMA as a student in 2005 became an instructor in 2009 and is now part owner of the school. He brings his skills learned working as a barber at his barbershop VipCutz and was a platform artist for the Wahl Clipper Co. He’s mastered barber techniques and you’ll learn everything he knows as a student at FUTURAMA

Mrs Imelda received her instructor training here at Futurama back in 2002 and has been a great asset. She strives to perfect the fundamentals and believes that a strong foundation is the basis for a long career in this industry.

Ms. Denise started her work with studying nails in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 2002. She obtained her cosmetology training at Alejandro Loccoco in 2008 then continued her work at Organic Nails under Laura Vargas. She came to Futurama Beauty Academy and obtained her license in 2011.
